BED - Binge Eating Disorder acronym with marker, concept b…

They are serious diseases, in which patients have psychological sequelae that affect their quality of life. The psychopathology of these disorders as focuses on food and body image. In addition to a series of psychosocial and self-esteem conflicts. From More Healthy we help to improve and solve these problems.

We are going to focus on the two most frequent eating disorders that we find in our clinic in Seville. Anorexia and bulimia nervosa.

Common features of Eating Disorder

  • Excessive concern about weight and your figure (image).

  • Extreme practices to control your weight, without specialist supervision (restrictive diets, extreme fasting, use of laxatives or diuretics).

  • Fear of gaining weight.

  • Low self-esteem, constantly has doubts about whether he is physically well or not.

  • Social and/or family problems.

What is Eating Disorder?

It is characterized by the intake of large amounts of food in a short period of time (binge eating) and feeling of not being able to eat at a time of finish. Let’s say it’s an addiction to binge eating and this has a basic problem called anxiety, which can be accompanied by depressive symptomatology.

With binge eating, the person suffering from bulimia nervosa, feels momentary relief.

Because the person is afraid of gaining weight, these binges are followed by compensatory behaviors such as: vomiting, excessive exercise, use of laxatives, periods of extreme fasting. These behaviors produce a great feeling of guilt and great shame, so they are usually done secretly.

The difference with respect to anorexia is that people with bulimia nervosa can maintain normal weight, even overweight. This disorder can go unnoticed for a long time.

Our recommendation is that if you know someone in your environment, a family member, who may suffer from these symptoms or is “obsessed”, who feels sadis weak and more susceptible than usual, mood swingsexcessive fasting and with a tendency to depression and isolation, they probably have a problem and we can help them.

Or on the contrary, if you think that it is you, who can suffer from any of these eating disorders, if you are tired, you are constantly cold, you have not lowered your menstruation for months, you feel sad and you do not enjoy the things of life and your friends or family and you like less and less to go to eat … Do not close in on yourself, ask for help.

With the treatment and support of More Healthy clinic, the problem has a solution, but the longer it takes the more difficult it will be.
